New ‘Maximum Score’ format This proposed format sees your score per hole capped at a maximum number of strokes set by the Committee, such as double par or a fixed number like eight. If you do not hole out for any reason you are given the maximum score, so you can still return a final score for 18 holes.
New ‘Par/Bogey’ format This matchplay-based format sees you or your team win or lose a hole by completing it in fewer or more strokes than your nett par. For example, if you make 15 nett pars and three nett birdies, your final score would be 3up. The competition is won by the player or side that finish the most up versus nett par.
Why make these changes? The proposed new formats have been devised to allow players to pick up when they’ve had too many shots, but without ruining their overall round, which will help speed up play, encourage new golfers to compete and help discourage NRs. |
