Last Sunday was Australia Day and so it proved to be on Tour too, as Aussie duo Marc Leishman and Lucas Herbert wrapped up the Farmers Insurance Open and Omega Dubai Desert Classic respectively.

Leishman kept a host of big names behind him to record his fifth PGA Tour title whilst Herbert held his nerve to defeat Christiaan Bezuidenhout to record his first European Tour win and add to the pair’s national celebrations.

I would walk 500 miles

Okay, the title is a slight exaggeration but the simple truth is that we all cover a good distance when playing a round of golf, especially those playing army golf! But, how far do we actually walk? Well, we got the calculator out to have a go at figuring it out for real.

Golf courses average between 6,500 and 6,800 yards. For argument’s sake, let’s split that down the middle at 6,650 yards, which means you would cover 3.78 miles (6.08km if you prefer) if you walked in a straight line.

However, factors such as the distance from green to tees, your ability, and how often you're searching for lost balls all come into play. So, in most cases, you can expect to walk between 50 and 70% further than the yardage length of the course!

All of this means one thing in our eyes - make sure you're wearing comfortable footwear out on the course. We have a great selection in the pro shop so come down and try on a few pairs before your next round.
